Cleaning Chemicals & Water Treatment Solutions for Airports

Effective chemical solutions to maintain airports.

You Can’t Accept Compromise

The pressures of airport facility management are unlike any other. You must strive for consistency and reliability, yet have a wildly fluctuating demand as the crowds of passengers ebb and flow. Continuity of heating and cooling is critical for keeping staff and passengers alike happy in what are often stressful and demanding situations.

Feel Confident Your Needs Are Cared For

Ensure consistency with unparalleled reliability

As a chemical partner, we understand the pressures you’re under to deliver a seamless experience. Yet you have to do so with an eye toward efficient water and electricity spending. That’s why we create solutions that are built around the specific needs of your facility ensuring that long asset life while minimizing water and power usage.

Solutions

Water Treatment

Your water systems are a critical component of your building and need to be managed from water in to water out. Guardian delivers the three pillars required for successful water treatment: industry-leading chemistry, responsive and knowledgeable service, and the holistic processes to ensure your systems perform at the lowest possible operating cost. This approach is grounded in decades of experience and supported by a data-driven process, giving operations and leadership the peace of mind they deserve. And we do this with health and safety as our top priority—that means everything from providing the proper training to handle the products to water management plans ensuring legionella does not cause issues. We can help by providing chemistry that is designed to get the most out of your systems, and the service support needed to keep them working as long as possible.

While the best water systems will be perfectly balanced, we understand that sometimes not everything goes as planned. That is why we also have a suite of solutions such as defoamers, descalers and odour controllers to help get your system back on track and operating at peak performance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chemical Solutions for Airports

What chemical and water treatment does an airport need?

Heating and cooling plant treatment for terminal HVAC, domestic hot water, and terminal-wide cleaning and disinfection. The distinguishing constraint is that demand swings hard with passenger volume while the plant has to hold conditions continuously, and nothing can be taken down during a peak.

How do we schedule plant work around flight operations?

Against redundancy and the traffic curve rather than against a maintenance calendar. Treatment, testing and dosing run live. Anything requiring equipment down gets planned into low-traffic windows with the spare capacity confirmed first. The work that threatens operations is the work that was deferred until it became urgent.

Why does terminal heating and cooling capacity drift down over time?

Fouled heat transfer surfaces. Scale and biofilm on condensers, and iron oxide in untreated closed loops, both reduce the heat the plant can move. It presents as an inability to hold temperature during a busy period, which gets attributed to load rather than to the plant.

Do airports need Legionella controls?

Wherever there are cooling towers or evaporative condensers, and in domestic hot water serving low-use outlets in seasonal or intermittently used areas of the terminal. Large buildings with variable occupancy have more stagnant branches than their operators usually expect.

What are the challenges with terminal cleaning and disinfection?

Continuous occupancy, high touch-point density, and a cleaning window that never fully closes. Products have to be appropriate for occupied public space and have contact times achievable during a real pass. Dilution control at the station matters more than product selection in most terminals.

How do we manage water treatment across multiple buildings on the field?

As one programme with standardised products, testing and reporting. Terminals, hangars, cargo facilities and maintenance buildings usually have different plant, but standardising the chemistry and record-keeping makes results comparable and training portable between them.

What about glycol loops serving make-up air?

They need their own attention. Glycol inhibitor packages deplete and glycol degrades over time to acidic products, so the fluid has to be tested rather than just topped up. In a cold climate, a degraded glycol loop is both a corrosion risk and a freeze protection risk.

What documentation will we receive?

Test results by system with treatment ranges, dated service records showing what was checked, safety data sheets, and trended results. Authorities and insurers generally want evidence of ongoing control, and that evidence is easier to maintain than to reconstruct.

Who does the testing on our systems?

Our representative, on a scheduled visit, leaving written results with your facilities team. That arrangement works whether you have a full plant crew or a small facilities group covering several buildings.
