Machine shop oil, fleet road film and plant floor soils each need their own chemistry
The GTA runs on manufacturing and logistics. Machine shops and parts plants deal with cutting fluids, drawing compounds and baked-on oil. Metal finishers need parts clean enough to coat. Distribution centres around Pearson, Brampton and Vaughan run fleets that come in coated with road salt residue and diesel film for half the year.

Discharge rules shape the choice too. Toronto’s Sewers By-law (Municipal Code Chapter 681) prohibits some substances and limits others in sanitary sewer discharges, keeps everything but rain and snowmelt out of storm drains, and requires some businesses to file a pollution prevention plan. We can provide product information and safety data sheets to support your compliance. In winter, keep water-based products out of unheated storage so they do not freeze.
Where to start for common GTA jobs
- Machine shops and parts plants: cutting fluids and drawing compounds usually come off with a water-based or alkaline parts-washing product, matched to the metal.
- Pre-paint and coating prep: start with a metal preparation cleaner so the coating has a clean surface.
- Fleet wash through salt season: a wash product matched to touchless or brush equipment, plus an aluminum cleaner for tanks and wheels.
- Heavy grease and asphalt: a solvent degreaser such as TerraSol ULV, or the VOC-free hybrid Breakaway VF where odour and VOCs are a concern.
