Water Treatment Solutions
for Plastic Manufacturing
Effective chemical solutions for the production of plastics
You Can’t Afford a Slow-Down
In any manufacturing setting, it’s integral that all systems are working efficiently and balanced perfectly. Not just your production machinery, but also the systems that support your factory. When heating and cooling needs increase, or systems simply fall into disrepair, your water and power usage can skyrocket. You need chemistry that keeps utility use in check while ensuring peak performance.
You Need Chemistry That Keeps Pace
And that means a chemical partner who understands your unique pressures
Your systems are designed specifically to support your manufacturing processes. You rely on chemistry to keep things running, which means having a partner who not only understands that, but can also deliver under all conditions. At Guardian, we’re here to find solutions that make sense for you.

- Water Treatment
- Sanitizing & Disinfecting
- Descaling
Water Treatment
Your heating and cooling systems need to work effectively while minimizing utility costs. Guardian delivers the three pillars required for successful water treatment: industry-leading chemistry, responsive and knowledgeable service, and the holistic processes to ensure your systems perform at the lowest possible operating cost. This approach is grounded in decades of experience and supported by a data-driven process, giving operations and leadership the peace of mind they deserve. And we do this with health and safety as our top priority—that means everything from providing the proper training to handle the products to water management plans ensuring legionella does not cause an issue for your institution. We can help by providing chemistry that is designed to get the most out of your systems, and the service support needed to keep them working as long as possible.
While the best water systems will be perfectly balanced, we understand that sometimes not everything goes as planned. That is why we also have a suite of solutions such as defoamers, descalers and odour controllers to help get your system back on track and operating at peak performance.
Sanitizing & Disinfecting
If you can’t protect the health and safety of your staff, then you can’t protect the continuity of your production.
Protect the health of everyone in and around your buildings from the visible and invisible bacteria, fungi, and other contaminants that can linger for days in the right environment. Guardian’s wide variety of solutions include several registered with Health Canada. All our hard surface cleaners, sanitizers, and disinfectants are made to ensure the cleanliness of contaminated surfaces.
Descaling
The best water systems will be perfectly balanced to minimize scale issues. However, once scale develops, it can impact the efficacy of your boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and heat exchangers. By treating this issue as soon as it’s noticed, you can prevent further negative impacts on your systems and equipment. We have the systems and people to properly treat the issue and optimize your system’s performance, no matter what condition it’s in.
We’re Here to Support You
As your business grows, changes, and adapts, your needs will change. You need a partner who can support you every step of the way.
At Guardian Chemicals, we know that no two systems are the same, and each solution needs to be selected to support your aims. What works for you one quarter might change the next. It’s the ability of our team to not just work within these unique challenges but to excel at finding the best solution, that sets Guardian apart.
Programs for your systems: boiler water treatment, cooling tower treatment, closed loop and chiller treatment and DataGuard monitoring. Local service: Edmonton and Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver and Florida.
We don’t believe in ‘deliver-and-done’. True benefits revolve around the consistency of program execution, which is why we’re there when you need us both for regular servicing and emergency support for life.

Our experts know your industry and will seek to understand the unique challenges of your business. Let’s talk.

Your systems and processes are interconnected. We’ll arrange a site visit to understand the bigger picture.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chemical Solutions for Plastics Processing
Cooling water treatment for chillers, towers and mould cooling circuits, descaling for the water side of moulds and heat exchangers, and plant sanitation chemistry. Mould cooling is the one that most directly affects production, because the channels are small and fouling there changes cycle time immediately.
Small passages, warm water and often untreated or under-treated cooling water. Scale, corrosion product and biofilm all build in narrow channels faster than anywhere else in the plant, and a thin layer is enough to change heat removal. Treating the loop is cheaper than pulling moulds to clean them.
Directly. The mould has to remove heat at a set rate to hold cycle time and part quality. Fouled channels or a fouled chiller barrel slows heat removal, so cycle time stretches or parts come out with warp, sink or dimensional drift. Operators often chase it in the process settings first.
Often yes, by circulating a cleaner through the cooling circuit with the mould in place. Whether that works depends on the deposit and the channel geometry. Identifying the deposit first tells you whether a circulating clean will lift it or whether the mould has to come out.
Iron corrosion, usually from oxygen ingress in a closed loop or from an untreated open system. It stains parts where cooling water leaks, fouls narrow passages, and indicates active metal loss. The discolouration is the symptom people notice; the metal loss is the cost.
Yes. Closed loops still take make-up water, and every litre brings dissolved oxygen. Untreated closed loops corrode steadily and deposit iron oxide in coils, exchangers and mould channels. Testing for iron and inhibitor residual is what tells you the condition.
Control the cooling tower chemistry if you have one, hold cycles of concentration where your make-up water allows, and treat for the scaling potential you are running. Then monitor approach temperature. A rising approach on the condenser is the earliest reliable sign that heat transfer is degrading.
Yes, and it is measurable on the chiller. Scale and biofilm on condenser surfaces raise condensing temperature and compressor power for the same cooling load. In a plant running continuously, that penalty is paid every hour the plant is up.
Both. Our representatives test on a schedule, adjust dosing, look at equipment condition, and leave written results. Plastics plants rarely have a water treatment specialist on staff, so the field service is usually the reason the programme stays in control.
