A wet electrostatic precipitator charges particles in a saturated gas stream and collects them on grounded tubes or plates, then washes the collected material off with water rather than rapping it loose. That makes it suited to sticky, wet or condensable emissions such as the resin and organic carryover from wood dryers and presses, where a dry precipitator or baghouse would blind off.

Our WESP system treatments allow your WESP to work at maximum efficiency by reducing chemical consumption and cycle times. How do we do that?

1. We increase the centrifuge performance and the efficiency of solids removal by limiting solids formation.
2. Our system uses sequestrants and surfactants to prevent scaling and increase cleaning performance—minimizing the need for costly physical cleaning.
3. With lower pH operating parameters, our system reduces foaming tendencies and defoamer usage.

When using Hot Water or Caustic Soda treatments, costly physical WESP cleaning is often performed on a monthly basis. Under normal operating conditions, treatment with WESPGUARD can eliminate monthly cleaning. Our clients find systems treated with WESPGUARD only need cleaning on a yearly basis.

In wood products, it is resin, pitch, tar and condensed organics from dryer or press exhaust, usually bound together with fibre and fines. The layer insulates the collection surfaces, so field strength drops and collection efficiency falls well before an opacity problem becomes visible.

Track secondary voltage and current trends, sparking and trip frequency, opacity margin, and differential pressure against the numbers recorded right after the last clean. Performance degrades gradually enough that crews normalise it, which is why a post-clean baseline matters more than an absolute threshold.

Some units can be washed during a short outage or between runs using a circulated cleaner. Heavily loaded units, and any unit where the deposit has been baked hard, need an offline soak with real dwell time. The deposit condition decides this, not the schedule.

WESPGUARD chemistry is formulated to lift organic deposits without attacking the tube metallurgy or the composite internals common in wood-products units. Confirm materials of construction with us before the first clean so we can set the limits.

It carries the dissolved organics and whatever else was in the deposit, so it goes to the mill effluent system with the load characterised in advance. We provide the expected pH and organic loading for the product and dose you are running, so your effluent operator can plan the receiving capacity.

It depends on the deposit and whether the unit can be soaked or must be sprayed. The controlling variable is dwell time, not spray volume. Chemistry needs contact to soften a resin deposit, and cutting the soak short is the most common reason a clean comes up short of the target.
